Prost Health

The MRI Advantage.

Seeing is believing. Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) allows us to visualize the prostate with unprecedented detail, distinguishing between aggressive cancer, indolent disease, and benign conditions.

Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI)

Multiparametric MRI is the gold standard for prostate cancer diagnosis. It combines anatomical imaging (T2-weighted) with functional imaging (Diffusion Weighted Imaging and Dynamic Contrast Enhancement).

  • High Sensitivity: Detects clinically significant cancers with >90% accuracy.
  • Triage Test: Allows 27% of men to avoid a biopsy entirely.
  • Targeting: Enables precise targeting of suspicious areas if a biopsy is needed.

Biparametric MRI (bpMRI)

Biparametric MRI is a faster, non-invasive alternative that eliminates the need for contrast dye injection. It relies on T2-weighted and Diffusion Weighted Imaging sequences.

It is an excellent screening tool for ruling out significant cancer, making the process faster, cheaper, and more comfortable for the patient without significantly compromising diagnostic accuracy for screening purposes.

  • No Needles: No intravenous cannulation required.
  • Faster: Scans take approximately 15-20 minutes.
  • Safe: No risk of allergic reaction to contrast media.
